Towers of Babel and houses of God... throughout our world throughout
 history, man raised his monuments to power atop the rubble of innocent
 lives.  Although the earliest “sanctuaries” were built by and for women,
 thousands of years prior to Cheops’ and his ilk’s pyramids, they don’t
 count, since they weren’t god-pleasing-aimed structures, but just places
 for the living to use in everyday life.  It wasn’t till after the guys
 took over, wanting to “rule” rather than just run things in a workable
 fashion, that deities had to be placated in the costliest ways possible.
 Along with the wealth of pharaohs and kings, countless living lives were
 ruthlessly squandered to buy just a privileged few some hoped-for chance
 of life after death.  Cathedrals, temples, mosques.  Pyramids and 
 pagodas, shrines, tabernacles and ziggurats.  All for the glory of...???
 
 Within these pages, gods and “God” are placed under a high-power
 microscope.  In both deadly serious and tongue-in-cheek fashion, the
 subject of “higher powers” is subjected to inspection, dissection and
 rather rude questioning of godly motives if, in fact, such an omnipotent
 influence exists.  Many more questions are asked than answers attempted,
 as you will see.  Supposed to be “thinking” creatures, it seems to me
 humans would do well to use that option more than they have up to now.
  
 To accept all or any part of anyone’s or any group’s interpretation of
 important life-affecting things “on faith” simply because it can’t be
 understood, is not the mark of a thinking being.  One might just as well
 be an amoeba. It’s no crime or sin not to know... but it’s unforgivably
 stupid to not “wonder”.  You’ll find plenty to wonder about here.  Just
 let yourself go, and enjoy the “trip”!

			A Woman’s Place

			Dear mother earth,
			and sister spirits above or below or beyond,
			do your once and long ago times yet linger
			in some memory deep-implanted in us?

			Faint shadows now,
			but ragged remnants, threadbare and not fit to be used,
			are what’s left of womanhood’s peak, yet something stirs, 
			still lives inside, sleep-enchanted in us.
			
			A woman’s place?
			What place is not then, when Nature is still called Mother?
			Although men may imagine themselves our keepers,
			kept safe, we’ve the powers She granted, in us.
